Tim Kaine and the Importance of Virginia

Clinton/Kaine 2016!

True, Tim might not be an "exciting" candidate for some, but there's one thing about the pick that's definitely exciting: Hillary is now almost guaranteed to win the presidency.

Clinton was already favored in Virginia, but Kaine as running mate pretty much locks it up. And if Clinton carries the Kerry states plus Nevada (pretty safe), New Mexico (very safe), and Virginia... that equals exactly 270 electoral votes. In this scenario, Hillary would not even need to win Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Iowa or Colorado in order to win the presidency.

Obviously, Hillary needs to make sure that the "blue wall" remains intact, with particular focus on Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maine and New Hampshire. But just in case there's a crack in it, she's also looking very good in Colorado, Florida and North Carolina.

Of course, there's a solid chance that Clinton will win every "blue wall" and swing state to win in an Obama-style landslide. I'm sure she intends to. But just in case it turns out to be close, Virginia might just make the difference.

  1. This notion that Kane is not exiting is another false narrative that we should reject. I watched Kane introducing himself in FL this morning. I was so moved and brought to tears when he started to talk about the wonder of becoming a naturalized citizen to how it hurt him by the gun violence and Virginia tech. He is exciting, and I trust Clinton/Kaine2016! Go Hillary.

    1. You're right...I'm on board with Kaine 100% and he IS exciting. It just takes a little while to see it maybe. He'll be awesome on the trail and a great VP!

  2. I thought Kaine was just outstanding - together Clinton and Kaine looked great! Kaine brings a lot to the table and Hillary couldn't have picked a better partner. I am so impressed with the two of them in Miami today. Watch out Trump - you're in for a rude awakening.

  3. I love the Hillary Clinton / Tim Kaine ticket. They are an amazing pair. However, I live in Florida...and actually it's looking very "close" here between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. I'm worried about Hillary winning Florida (I want her to win here so, so bad) but this is such a Republican state (unfortunately) and the polls are so close. The Moody Election Model - which has accurately predicted every election since 1980 is predicting Nevada to swing Republican this year. I don't know why....but it is. This election is so depressing; Hillary Clinton is having to struggle against that idiot Donald Trump. I just can't believe this is happening; Hillary Clinton is clearly the best candidate...yet Trump's poll numbers just won't go down.

    1. I know. Can you imagine people actually voting for him? He's such a crude person and really isn't all that smart. I see a buffoon/entertainer who shouldn't get anywhere near the red button. I have no clue what others see. I do think breaking the glass ceiling is a very hard thing to do but Hillary has the best surrogates out there campaigning for her so I hope that will drive turn out on Election Day.

  4. Krugman's article on Trump's racism is great, he concludes that he is. So this talk that it was just to get the white nationalists is not confirmed, it's his own heart, he's a 'real white guy,' really believes in his genetic superiority (weird). They link to a Village Voice piece of 40 years back, with Donald's deals, he's a real pervert, he gets off on it.

I am again pissed at Bernie, how dare he allow his people to claim that Debbie has to go, because of emails stolen by Russia and put out for that purpose, why would he take that bait, and do their bidding? No one thought Bernie could win a general, Bernie only thought so once it was Donald against him, with the idea that he is a less toxic crank, forgetting he can't get along with anyone and has never made a deal outside his deal with the Democrats when he first ran for Senate and then became pro-war. And again proving he puts his own ego #1, go figure.

Bernie sued the DNC, twice, if there is worse hidden in his not-leaked emails, that's already worse than private political acknowledgement that he was a jerk and unelectable. And Debbie had to keep helping him, he didn't even ask, he didn't just didn't know and all the money he collected didn't go for that help, that he got free from Debbie while bashing her.

He was lying about Hillary, and she never said anything mean about him, and now he wants the head of another woman? And he'll get it, Debbie is the good mother, she'll let him have her baby so it won't be killed, but this happening in my party is awful, and the 'victims' are those bernie-bots who knew all along that they weren't given their 'due' respect? Them? It's always the high road the worker girls take, for the good of the party and the election and it will happen yet again. Makes me sick that it's still this way, and in our own party it's this way.
