Monmouth Poll: Clinton Leads Sanders by 22 Points in Iowa

With less than two months to go (which includes the holiday lull) Hillary is holding strong in Iowa:
Hillary Clinton leads Bernie Sanders by 22 points in Iowa, according to a new poll.
A Monmouth University survey released on Tuesday found Clinton taking 55 percent support over Sanders at 33 percent.
Monmouth found that Clinton's lead is due in large part to her domination among women and voters over fifty...and also that 22 points might actually be lowballing it.
Clinton’s support comes from those who are more likely to participate in the caucuses on Feb. 1, the poll found.
Among those who have participated in caucuses in the past, Clinton’s lead expands to 27 points over Sanders.
The pattern is becoming clear in Iowa and elsewhere: Democrats are consolidating around the lifelong Democrat whose historic candidacy will crush the deranged and disarrayed Republicans next November.

  1. Note… I originally quoted the Hill article which stated that Hillary had an almost 25-point RCP average lead in Iowa and wrote that I had no idea it was that high. Well, it wasn’t. They flubbed...that’s the national average. In Iowa, it’s “only” 13.7 points. Just FYI.

  3. Many independents, some of whom I like to call "Perot-voting UFO nuts", really prefer to vote in the most interesting race, be it Dem or Pub. Last time it was the Hillary/Obama battle, but this time it's more likely to be the Trump/Everybody else free-for-all. On the Dem side it will be a larger percentage of Democrats voting this time, and that favors Hillary.

    1. That could definitely happen! I would not be surprised at all.

  4. This is great news. If HRC wins Iowa it's all over. BUT some of these national polls really bother me. Hillary is SOOO superior to the Reps yet she is only leading them by a few points--and is even losing to Rubio in some. It's amazing to me that someone so superior could be only a few pts ahead of these nutcases.

    1. Most people don't know the positions and statements of people like
Carson and Rubio; maybe they are just attracted to their personalities. Right now you all the Pubs firing away at Hillary, and the Whole Bernie Thing. For the most part she has been holding her fire. When the Bernie Thing goes away, and the Pubs select a specific candidate, our media barrage will begin, and every crazy thing that candidate has said will be exposed. Hillary's numbers will climb, and she'll never look back. #HillaryTsunami!
