Pope Francis Emerges as Equal Pay Ally

Following his support for ending the death penalty and addressing climate change, I'm sure the Republicans just love this.
Pope Francis weighed in on the equal-pay issue on Wednesday, calling continued inequality in pay for women who do the same work as men a “pure scandal.”
The pope proposed Christianity’s “radical equality” to his weekly general audience at St. Peter’s Square, saying Christians worldwide must be more emphatic in demanding it, according to the National Catholic Reporter.
“Why is it expected that women must earn less than men?” he asked, according to the report. “No! They have the same rights. The disparity is a pure scandal.”
Not surprisingly, one presidential candidate has greeted this news with great enthusiasm.
It's long overdue... but maybe we can finally get this done in a Hillary Clinton administration!
